Seasonal Flowers: Keep the budget in check!

Keeping the budget in check is always a huge challenge when it comes to planning a wedding. We have talked about ways to keep your budget in check here, but there are also lots of little hints, tips and tricks to help you along the way. Not every tip is going to save you thousands and not every one you come across will work for you. But here is one from us, call it a freebie! When it comes to wedding flowers, it is easy to go all out and overspend. But one simple way to keep your floral costs down is to choose seasonal flowers. These are cheaper and easier for your florist to source. Can mean yo get better quality sometimes and can save you so much money!

So what is in season when? We have round up some of the most beautiful seasonal flowers to add the beautiful touch to your bouquets and wedding decor.

Seasonal Flowers:

Spring

March/April/May

The Daffodil

seasonal flowers

What says spring more than a daffodil? The ultimate spring flower and SO, SO affordable. Whether you're using it for your main flower displays and bouquets or choosing to DIY some of your wedding decor, Daffodils can be such an affordable way to absolutely nail a sprig theme. And oh my! They're just beautiful flowers.

The Gerbera Daisy

We have a bit of a soft spot for a gerbera daisy here! They are so affordable, so beautiful and come in SO many colour options! Understated but gorgeous.

The Tulip

another flower that just screams SPRING! I don't know about you but is it even Spring before youhave a bunch in the house? Like the Gerbera, the colour opportunities here are endless. Affordable, beautiful, and so understated.

Summer

June/July/August

The Peony

When I got married in 2010, flowers weren't high on our wedding budget list. My husband to be had no interest in flowers and there were other things we wanted to spend our money on. Now... There would be no question... peonies would be EVERYWHERE! I was late to the peony party but I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful flower in my life! Soft pinks, blushes, peaches, off whites. They will suit ANY colour scheme and just look oh so dreamy! If you're having an early summer wedding, consider these beauties.

The Sunflower

I will be honest, whilst I love a sunflower, they never shout out 'wedding flower' to me. But I hold my hands yup when I am wrong. These amazingly versatile blooms can create some of the most beautiful centrepieces, backdrops, focus points you could ever imagine.

The Lily

Admittedly, this isn't one of our go to flowers here at Confetti Ave. They're beautiful, they create some BEAUTIFUL bouquets and florists are sure to remove the pollen staining elements of a lily. But we just can't get on board. Prove us wrong, we want to see your beautiful lily inspired floral displays! Tag us in your Insta posts!

Autumn

September/October/November

The Poppy

Not a flower traditionally associated with celebration. Not in the sense of a wedding anyway. But actually, what more beautiful way to play homage to something personal to you as a couple whilst providing such an understated beautiful back drop. We never realised how beautiful a poppy floral display could be!

The Rose

The rose. The flower of romance, love and celebration. We added it into this season but we all know this is the most versatile, all season flower that just oozes romance. No matter when you use it. We added it to Autumn because whilst we spoke about the versatility of colours earlier in certain blooms, there is nothing that comes close to the rose. You cannot find a burnt orange daffodil, or a dark moody red gerbera, but you absolutely can find that in a rose!

The Calla Lily

seasonal flowers

If you're looking for clean, minimal, but beautiful floral display, a calla lily maybe for you, and if you are having an Autumn wedding, there are some colours in these flowers that just brig out that autumnal gorgeousness.

Winter

December/January/February

The Gypsophila or Baby's Breath

THIS FLOWER. If you want affordable, beautiful, understated, versatile. Then Gypsophilla (better known as bay's breath) is the flower for you. This is one flower advised not to add to your wedding cake but use it literally EVERYWHERE else! It is just so unbelievably beautiful.

The Magnolia

I won't lie, whilst we are familiar with this flower, until researching this post we never realised the pure beauty of this flower. Erm hello, have you seen that bouquet above? What an amazing flower to add to your winter wonderland.

The Gardenia

Yet another beautiful white winter wedding flower. A little more discreet than the other winter flowers but absolutely no less beautiful!
