14 Tips for your Wedding Morning

Your wedding morning really does set the tone for your big day. But, be prepared, it goes by SO quickly! You really do have to put some thought and planning into your wedding morning. But we are here to help you with some top tips to make planning your morning a super simple task!

Be Ready for Hair & Make Up

If you ask any wedding hair or make up artist what they're biggest frustration is when attending weddings, I can pretty much guarantee most will say the bridal party not being ready for them. If they are arriving for 9am, your bridal party need to make sure they have had their showers and done their skin care before this time. Out of all of your wedding suppliers, these are the ones that are on the tightest schedule. Minutes really do matter!

Have Your Details Ready The Night Before

Not only does this make sure you have everything close by as and when you need it. Your photographer (and content creator) are going to want to take shots of all your accessories and details. Make sure your jewellery, shoes, perfume, stationery and any other details you want photographed are all ready in one place. And don't forget to hang up your dresses and steam out any creases at the same time.

Give your Suppliers A Contact Number That Isn't Yours

No matter how organised you are and how meticulously you have planned every single detail. Things happen! There may be suppliers that need to access a locked space, a detail that needs to be clarified or someone may have to deliver some bad news. Unfortunately, these things are unavoidable but you don't want them ringing you and adding stress to your wedding morning. Give your suppliers a contact number of someone you trust to deal with any issues calmly and effectively. One of your bridesmaids, your mum, your sister. Whoever, just make sure it isn't you!

Have a Wedding Morning Playlist

This could be a task you pass onto one of your bridal party (see below for giving out tasks) but have a morning playlist ready to go. Whatever feeling you want to create in the morning can be the vibe of the music. Whether its party pop, old school bangers, summer chillout music. Have fun with it and your girls as you get ready.

Don't Wear Anything Elasticated

This goes for the night before too! And doesn't just apply to you. Your bridesmaids too. No hair bobbles on the wrists, no tight socks, no bra's. There is nothing worse than looking back over your wedding photos and spotting that someone has strap marks all over them. Remember these indents take time to disappear from the skin so avoid elastic at all costs!

Dry Your Flowers an Hour Before

Your flowers will arrive in water to keep them as fresh as possible. Make sure you take them out of water and dry them off around an hour before your final shots prior to getting married. You don't want any of your dresses to get ruined with water marks from dripping flowers. Try not to take them out before that either, especially if it is warm. They will begin to wilt and not be quite so blooming!

Eat!

This one is easier said than done. There are so many things going on and so many emotions you are feeling, it is easy to forget to eat. Arrange for you all to have breakfast together or arrange a company to come in and provide you all with brunch to make sure you all get something to eat. If you're up at the crack of dawn, it is a long time to wait for the wedding breakfast.

Give Bridesmaids Tasks

Your bridesmaids are there for a reason, make sure you give each of them tasks, one could arrange the music, one be your suppliers contact, one can be in charge of food and drink. There are so many little tasks that need to happen throughout the morning, take the pressure off yourself and trust your best girls with them.

Be Ready an Hour Prior To Your Ceremony

When you are planning your wedding morning, make sure you are ready an hour prior to the ceremony. Time really does run away from you (yes, I was late for my own wedding... which was taking place 20 steps away from where I was getting ready!). You want time for first looks, bridal party pictures and of course some amazing pictures of you in your dress. Have everyone ready with plenty of time to spare so you can enjoy those final moments as a Miss with your best friends.

Have a Timeline

Having a timeline for your wedding morning is absolutely crucial to keep everyone on track! Your hair stylist and make up artist will help you with how long those bits will take but make sure you add in time for eating, having fun, any social media trends you want to film, photographs, first looks, and PLENTY of time for getting into your dress.

Stay Hydrated - Not with the Champers... Sorry!

This one is as important as eating. Make sure you keep yourself fully hydrated.

And not to be a killjoy, of course enjoy a glass or two of champers with your bridal party but don't have it as your only source of drink. There is absolutely nothing classy about a drunk bride. With all the emotions and excitement of the day, that champers will hit you quicker than usual, so just be mindful of how much you are sipping.

Have an Emergency Kit

Have an emergency kit ready just in case. Or as I like to call it - An 'Oh Shit Kit'. If things happen that weren't exactly planned, you know you have everything covered!

Some things you can add to your Oh Shit Kit are -

  • Medicines
  • Mints
  • Lip Balm
  • Menstrual Products
  • Scissors
  • Stain Remover
  • Hair Ties
  • Hair Grips
  • Safety Pins
  • Lint Roller
  • Mini Sewing Kit
  • Extra Charger
  • Tissues
  • Hand Lotion
  • Cotton Buds
  • Deoderant
  • Superglue

It is so much better to be prepared and nothing at all go wrong, than something go wrong and not be able to quickly and easily rectify it.

Hire a Wedding Content Creator

Now this isn't a business plug (much!). If you have been thinking about getting a wedding content creator but are seriously on a budget, many of them offer a package of a few hours which is perfect for the getting ready hours. Whilst you want to capture the entire day every way possible, there is something about the wedding morning that just needs that presence. A wedding content creator can really encapsulate the whole feel of the morning in such a unique way. It allows your bridal party to be fully present with you on the morning rather than having their phones in their hands. And if trends and transitions are your thing, this part of the day is where the real magic can happen!

Take it All In!

This day will never happen again. And you will never have this moment with your best friends again. Enjoy every moment, take every feeling and emotion in and embrace the beautiful chaos that comes with a wedding morning!
